CS. Dr. Mercy Kanyara is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Commissioner For Oaths. She is also a Professional Certified Mediator (CPM) -MTI, a Certified Public Secretary (CS)( – ICPSK, a Humanitarian Chaplain, a Pastor and an Entrepreneur in real estate and hotel industry. She is a practicing advocate with M. N. Kanyara & Company Advocates. She is also a motivational speaker, Counsellor, Women Leader and a lecturer.
She holds a Masters Degree in Laws (LLM)-UON, a Masters Degree in Business Administration-JKUAT, Bachelors Degree in Law (LLB) -UON, Diploma in Legal Studies -Kenya School of Law, Diploma in Human Resource Management- Kenya Institute of Management, Diploma in Leadership -Word of Faith Bible Institute, Certificate in Counselling. She holds an honorary PhD in Humane Letters. She is pursuing a PhD in Entrepreneurship.
With 34 years experience as an advocate and wide experience at senior management positions in both public and NGO sector, out of which about 17 years are in University management . In the 2005- 2016 , she was the Chief Legal Officer at JKUAT and in year 2019-2021 she was the Registrar -Administration, Planning & Development at AMREF University.
Dr. Mercy is philanthropist and she is the founding Trustee of Eddie Forever Solution Centre (ESOC) Foundation in Dagoretti. ESOC is a non-profit foundation which supports and promotes the welfare of the needy children , it runs a children’s home for orphans and needy children. ESOC also runs a monthly feeding program and distribution of foodstuffs to the needy. She’s also a Trustee of KARIKA Group Foundation (Foundation supporting the aged in Kenya).
She is a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), Institute of Certified Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK), Institute of Chartered Mediators & Conciliators ( ICMC) and a long-time member of Lions Club International .
Dr. Mercy has also been involved in management of politics. She was a Commissioner in the Elections Board of NARC Party in the year 2001 to 2007. She was an International Elections Observer for Presidential elections in Zimbabwe in 2002 and South Africa in 2004. In 2017 to 2019, she was the Director of International Relations in Jubilee Party of Kenya.
