MACHAKOS UNIVERSITY SAVINGS
AND CREDIT CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY LTD
Machakos University SACCO was registered in 2015 under the cooperatives’ society act CAP 490, laws of Kenya. The objective for which the society is established is to organise and promote the welfare and economic interests of its members. Since inception, the MksU SACCO has grown tremendously from the previous financial year to the present, which saw the membership grow to over 50% and anticipating a 70% growth in the next financial year. The MksU SACCO is licensed and regulated by SARSA (SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority).
As a member one can access our three loan products:
- Normal loan- offers a maximum of 36 months of repayment period.
- Emergency loan – offers a maximum of 12 months repayment period
- Salary advance- offers a maximum of 3 months repayment period.
The interest is 1% per month on a reducing balance.

The society is managed by nine (9) Board of Directors, four (4) executive board members, two (2) credit committee members, and three (3) Supervisory committee members.

Dr. Esther Nduku Muia-Matuku
Member, Supervisory Committee
Esther is an expert and consultant in the area of Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics having obtained a PhD in the same and an alumnus of the African Nutrition Leadership Programme. Esther is self-motivated and has a bias and interest in alternative livelihoods in endeavor to promote the nutrition status of individuals and populations, reduce vulnerabilities, decrease nutritional insecurity as well as reduce malnutrition rates in the populations. She has worked with various organizations as a researcher in areas of improving the nutrition status of people in marginalized and poverty stricken areas through improved livelihoods to enhance food security at the household and community level. Esther has also been involved in community sensitization forums in enhancing food security and has been actively involved in the training and mentorship of young nutritionists at academic and professional levels. Esther is interested in cross-cutting interdisciplinary research themes and in multidisciplinary collaboration.
