The Machakos University Audit Committee of Council which was appointed towards the end of year 2020 (in line with the Public Finance Management Act, 2012 and Public Finance Management Regulation, 2015, which require that a public entity to establish an Audit Committee) held a Three (3) day induction course to familiarize itself with its roles and mandate.
The training which was organized by the University’s Internal Audit Department led by the Chief Internal Audit Mr. John Ngure had facilitators drawn from the Kenya School of Government who dealt with matters of financial reporting, risk management and internal control, among others which we believe will assist the Council Audit Committee perform its oversight role.
Members present were the Council Audit Committee, The Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Research, Innovation and Linkages representing the Vice-Chancellor-Prof. Lucy Irungu and Members of Staff from the University’s Internal Audit Department.
