Congratulations to the Class of 2023 from Machakos University on their graduation! This milestone signifies the conclusion of one chapter and the commencement of a promising new journey.
Machakos University recently held its 8th Graduation Ceremony, a pivotal moment celebrating the achievement of 1,222 candidates who successfully completed a range of academic programmes. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. James Mworia, the Chancellor of Machakos University and was graced by distinguished guests including Mr. Fredrick Ndambuki representing the Education Cabinet Secretary Hon. Ezekiel Machogu, Chairman of the Council and Vice Chancellors from various universities, members of the Machakos University Senate, as well as graduates, parents, guardians, and partners.
The commencement procession, featuring the university’s music band leading the way, was promptly followed by the Chancellor’s entourage as they entered the graduation square. Their arrival into the auditorium triggered the illumination of lights and the commencement of camera recordings.
As attendees settled into their seats, the Vice-Chancellor formally inaugurated the 8th graduation ceremony. In her address, she underscored Machakos University’s significant progress in academic excellence, research endeavors, innovative initiatives and strategic alliances, emphasizing the synchronization of the university’s academic offerings with the evolving needs of industries and the job market.
The event was further enriched by captivating performances from the university choir, the karate club, and the Kiima Kimwe traditional dance troupe, providing attendees with engaging entertainment between proceedings.
The ceremony embraced the theme of “Co-creating sustainable futures through transformative scholarship.”
The Valedictorian and a graduate from the School of Business, Economics, Hospitality, and Tourism Management Ms. Damaris Mumbua Kivuva, extended congratulations to her fellow classmates for the remarkable achievements. She expressed gratitude for the university’s guidance and support throughout their academic journey at Machakos University. She urged her peers to take a moment to reflect on the path that led them to this milestone and encouraged them to become catalysts for positive change in their communities, leveraging the knowledge acquired from their esteemed institution.
In a speech delivered on behalf of the Education Cabinet Secretary Hon. Ezekiel Machogu by Ministry of Education Administration Secretary Fredrick Ndambuki, recognition was given to Machakos University’s prioritization of technology-focused courses. Hon. Machogu praised the university for its notable increase in student enrollment and commended its dedication to providing transformative scholarship, particularly in equipping professionals with expertise in technical domains such as Mathematics, Science, Engineering and Technology.
Dr. James Mworia, reiterated the institution’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence. He conferred degrees and certificates, emphasizing the university’s relentless pursuit of educational distinction.
