TUBORESHE PAMOJA SHE SUMMIT

The well-organized and eagerly anticipated event, hosted at the Machakos Youth Center, was specifically tailored for women aged 18 to 35 with the primary objective to provide a comprehensive training and empowerment in key areas such as Gender Inclusivity, Women’s Mental & Sexual Reproductive Health, Climate Action, Enterprise Development, Digital Economy, Leadership, and other pertinent topics.

Tuboreshe Pamoja is a community-based organization founded by a collective of driven young individuals boasting diverse expertise across various sectors. The mission is to foster the capacity development of youth and women while facilitating opportunities that drive both community and personal growth.

Ms. Mary Mutula, Tuboreshe Pamoja Executive Director

At the helm of Tuboreshe Pamoja is the Executive Director Ms. Mary Mutula, a distinguished alumna of Machakos University. Ms. Mutula holds a number of roles including Global Peace Ambassador, Youth Connekt Africa Fellow, Partnerships and Communications Director at Tourism Ambassadors Kenya, Chairperson of the Machakos University Alumni Association and is a Young & Emerging Leaders Project Fellow (YELP) with the Leo Africa Institute. Additionally, she serves as Ms. President of Machakos County.

In attendance was Machakos University Vice-Chancellor Professor Joyce Agalo, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. She was accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor overseeing Administration, Planning and Finance Professor Prof. Mugendi M’rithaa, the Head of Legal Affairs and Council Secretariat Ms. Mumbi Mwihurih and the Dean School of Education Dr. Pamela Muriungi.

The forum also welcomed esteemed dignitaries including the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Gender, Youth & Sports Honorable John Kilonzo, Social Welfare, and Digital Economy in Machakos County; Honorable Consolata Mutisya, CECM for Education in Machakos County; Honorable Joyce Kamene Kasimbi, Woman Representative of the National Assembly for Machakos County; Honorable Hellen Ndeti, Chair of the Women Caucus in the Machakos County Assembly; Honorable Ken Babu, Youth Senator in the Nairobi County Assembly; Bernadetta Wavinya, representing Gender and Social Welfare from the Machakos County Government, alongside numerous other distinguished guests.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor overseeing Administration, Planning and Finance, delivered a captivating speech, urging the youths to persevere, remain determined and uphold their integrity. The Head of Legal Affairs and Council Secretariat Ms. Mumbi Mwihurih and Dean School of Education Dr. Pamela Muriungi served as panelists, delivering outstanding remarks as they addressed Gender Inclusivity and Digital Economy topics respectively.

The Vice-Chancellor during her address, emphasized the imperative of unlocking one’s leadership potential. She underscored the significance of personal accountability and responsibility, aligning it with a sense of divine purpose. Expressing gratitude to partners and attendees, she pledged sustained involvement in initiatives aimed at empowering the youth, both within Machakos County and on a national scale. Acknowledging the robust partnership between the university and the County Government, she committed to strengthening these ties for the collective advancement of young people in the region. Concluding her remarks with an empowering message, she urged participants to seize opportunities to shape their futures through decisive action today.
