Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025

The Huawei ICT competition is an international communication platform that connects Huawei, academia, and industries, as well as talent demand and supply. It helps colleges and universities cultivate ICT talent that is future-ready, along with promoting learning, teaching, innovation, and employment.

The competition provides teachers and students an opportunity to showcase their talents to the world and at the same time win awards and honors. It also allows teachers, colleges, and universities to demonstrate the quality of their talent cultivation and extend their influence in the industry.

The competition fosters effective teamwork between contestants and helps them build their creativity and entrepreneurship. Later on, these qualities will help them succeed in their chosen careers. Considering both economic and social value, the competition promotes the adoption of the latest ICTs (such as the Internet, big data, and AI) in production, education, research, and application.

The Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025 is divided into 3 main categories: Practice, Innovation, and Teaching.

Practice Competition
This competition has four tracks: Network, Cloud, Computing, and Ascend AI (the Ascend AI track is currently only available in the Chinese mainland). It assesses students’ theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills in the ICT field as well as their teamwork skills through written and lab exams, and ranks them based on their exam scores. Participants need to be familiar with relevant technical theories and experiments.

Rules: The Practice Competition adopts a three-level competition system (national, regional, and global). The national competition involves a theoretical exam, while the regional final includes both theoretical and experimental exams. The global final is conducted through an experimental exam, and the teams that make it to this stage are selected from the regional finals.

Innovation Competition
In this competition, students can start by identifying real-life needs and combining them with industry application scenarios. They need to use AI, or combine it with other technologies like cloud computing, IoT, big data, Kunpeng, and HarmonyOS to develop solutions that have both social and commercial value, and design fully functional entries.

Rules: The competition is conducted through entry demonstration and presentation, with a focus on creativity system/technical complexity, business/social value, functional completeness, and the presentation skills of the participating teams.

Teaching Competition
This competition features three tracks: Experimental Teaching Cases, Excellent Textbooks, and ICT Academy Operation Cases. Currently, the Excellent Textbooks track is only available in the Chinese mainland. In this competition, teachers will showcase their experimental cases and textbooks designed based on Huawei’s relevant technologies and resources, as well as their ICT academy operation achievements.
Rules: Teachers need to submit cases and complete presentations.
