Machakos University will hold the 8th Public Lecture on “Mental Health Issues, Consequences, and Interventions.” The lecture will be delivered by Ms. Grace Wanjiku, the acting Secretary, Director of Counselling Services at the State Department of Public Service, Government of Kenya.

Overview of Activities:

Organized by the Division of Research, Innovation, and Linkages through the Directorate of Research, Innovation, and Technology Transfer, this public lecture aims to foster informed conversations on critical mental health issues affecting our society today.

Following the lecture, there will be a public discussion led by distinguished panelist, including Prof. James Muola, the acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs of Machakos University, alongside Dr. Jennifer Njoki, a consultant psychiatrist at Machakos Level 5 Hospital.

The main objective of the public Lecture is to create awareness, discuss interventions and strengthen the mechanisms for addressing mental health issues, with a call to action for all stakeholders to play a role in improving mental health care and awareness.

Machakos University annual Public Lecture Series is an integral part of the institution’s mission to encourage a culture of research, learning and public engagement. These lectures provide a platform for sharing knowledge and discussing pertinent societal challenges.
