Machakos University Strengthens Commitment to BPO and Industry-Ready Skills Development

Machakos University on 26th February 2026, hosted renowned digital education and innovation expert Mr. Sven Da Cauter, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Teleperformance Kenya, for a strategic engagement focused on advancing Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) opportunities and strengthening industry-ready skills among continuing students and graduates.

The University Management team, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joyce Agalo, welcomed the engagement as a significant milestone that underscores the University’s commitment to equipping learners with practical competencies aligned with the evolving global digital economy. She emphasized the importance of partnerships with industry leaders in enabling students to take advantage of emerging opportunities within the BPO sector, while also strengthening graduate employability.

Mr. Da Cauter highlighted the importance of integrating practical training, digital literacy, and innovation into academic programs. He noted that institutions that align training with industry needs are better positioned to prepare graduates for global outsourcing and remote work opportunities.

During the visit, the team toured, among other facilities, the Luban Workshop, which supports specialized training in digital skills and applied technology. They also toured the University’s designated office spaces for the BPO initiative. The visit reaffirmed Machakos University’s commitment to embracing innovation, strengthening global partnerships, and aligning academic programs with market demands. By investing in modern training facilities and engaging international expertise, the University continues to create pathways that empower students with relevant skills for the future of work
