Organized in partnership with NACADA Machakos County office and the Students’ Association of Machakos University (SAMU), the event marked the launch of the annual Mental Health Week, officially opened by the Assistant County Commissioner of Machakos County, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing mental health and substance abuse among the youth.

Key facilitators from NACADA, Ms. Jacqueline Kidaha and Ms. Jane Omano, led an insightful and engaging session focusing on the dangers of drug and substance abuse among the youth. They shared in-depth insights on how substance abuse continues to affect young people and stressed the importance of staying informed, resilient, and substance-free.

Students were actively engaged throughout the session, asking pertinent questions and sharing feedback to support NACADA’s ongoing efforts in prevention and recovery initiatives. This energetic and interactive talk wasn’t just informative; it highlighted a powerful commitment by our students to be ambassadors of change, both within the university and in their communities.

Through initiatives such as this, Machakos University continues to stand at the forefront of the national fight against drug and substance abuse, empowering young people with knowledge, fostering resilience, and shaping a generation of informed champions committed to building a healthier, drug-free Kenya.
