MACHAKOS UNIVERSITY COUNCIL
Responsibilities:
1. Employs Staff and recommends the appointment of the Vice-chancellor
2. Manages University according to the Statutes
3. Approves and publishes the Statutes
4. Approves University Policies
5. Approves University Budget
6. Plays an oversight role on the University assets.
7. Performs any other responsibilities set out in the Universities Act 2012 and the Charter.

Chaiman of Council
Dr. Peter Maangi Mitiambo is a long-serving and skilled management consultant, trainer, lecturer and researcher with working experience in over 20 countries in Africa, serving the public and private sectors as well as NGO client organizations. A member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants, he has also had a successful career, managing finances of a bank, a University and an international organization.
MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL
CPA Felix is a full member of Kenya institute of management (MKIM), Africa tax and Research Network (ATRN)scientific committee and the institute of certified public accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in good standing with 26 years post qualifying experience in accountancy and financial management.
CS. Dr. Mercy Kanyara is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Commissioner For Oaths. She is also a Professional Certified Mediator (CPM) -MTI, a Certified Public Secretary (CS)( – ICPSK, a Humanitarian Chaplain, a Pastor and an Entrepreneur in real estate and hotel industry. She is a practicing advocate with M. N. Kanyara & Company Advocates. She is also a motivational speaker, Counsellor, Women Leader and a lecturer.
Prof. Joyce J. Agalo is the Vice Chancellor of Machakos University and the Secretary to the Council.
She is a Professor of Education and an Instructional Designer with over 25 years’ experience in academic, research, and supervision of both undergraduate and postgraduate students. She holds a B.Ed. from Kenyatta University, an M. Lib. (Media Technology) from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, United Kingdom and a Ph.D. (Educational Communication and Technology) from Moi University, having undertaken part of her research at the FerUniversitat in Hagen, Germany.
