On 14th May 2026, Machakos University donated 300 bottles of its branded drinking water, MACHA DRiPS, to the Kenya Red Cross Society, Machakos County Branch, in support of the upcoming Power of Humanity Walk 2026 scheduled for 16th May 2026.

The annual event seeks to raise awareness on climate-related risks, promote volunteerism among young people, and mobilize resources to strengthen disaster preparedness and emergency response within schools and communities. This year’s walk is guided by the cause “Youth-Led Climate Resilience & Disaster Preparedness” under the theme “Walk for Resilience; Prepare Today, Protect Tomorrow.” The event is expected to attract over 1,000 students.
Machakos University’s support underscores its continued commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), community wellbeing, youth empowerment, and climate resilience initiatives aimed at creating sustainable and safer communities.
The donation was delivered by the University’s Corporate Affairs and Public Relations team led by the Head of Department, Ms. Maureen Kaveke, on behalf of the University. The team was warmly received at the Kenya Red Cross offices by Mr. Vades Sangi, Procurement Officer, alongside Machakos University students pursuing Bachelor of Science in Community Resource Management and Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Development, who are currently on attachment at the organization.

Speaking during the handover, Mr. Sangi expressed sincere appreciation to the University Management for the generous support, noting that the donation will greatly contribute to the success of the event.
Through such initiatives, Machakos University continues to strengthen its role as a socially responsible institution dedicated to supporting humanitarian causes, environmental sustainability, and impactful community engagement.
