Machakos University Showcases African Creativity at Master of Design Exhibition

The Master of Design Exhibition, held from 15th to 22nd May 2026, successfully concluded with Master of Design Year One students presenting an exceptional showcase of African indigenous creativity through graphic and fashion design.



The exhibition featured impressive cross-cultural African-inspired designs that creatively blended traditional heritage with modern artistic expression. The fashion segment stood out with unique outfits and accessories reflecting different generations of African identity, showcasing evolving styles while preserving authentic cultural elements.


In the graphic design section, students displayed remarkable creativity through captivating wall arts, logos, and branding concepts inspired by African cultural aesthetics and contemporary urban expressions such as Matatu culture. Through bold typography, vibrant colour palettes, and symbolic storytelling, the students demonstrated a deep understanding of design, branding, and cultural preservation.

The exhibition reflected Machakos University’s commitment to nurturing innovation, creativity, research, and talent development while promoting African heritage through art and design. It also highlighted the University’s growing role as a centre of excellence in creative arts, innovation, and cultural expression.
