Machakos University Student Leads Kenya to Historic Global Grand Prize at Huawei ICT Competition 2025-2026

Machakos University is celebrating a landmark achievement on the global stage after its student, Salem Kim Lumumba, a third-year Bachelor of Science student in Cloud Computing and Information Security, led his team to victory and secured the coveted Global Grand Prize in the Cloud Track at the Huawei ICT Competition 2025-2026 Global Finals.

The competition brought together over 210,000 students from more than 100 countries and regions, making it one of the world’s most prestigious ICT contests. Through exceptional technical expertise, innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, Salem and his teammates emerged as the world’s best in the highly competitive Cloud Track category.
This outstanding accomplishment is a testament to the dedication, resilience, and talent of the students, as well as the quality mentorship provided by Mr. Franklin Mutisya, a Huawei ICT Academy Instructor at Machakos University.
