Machakos University Rewards Global ICT Champion Salem Kim Lumumba with Full Scholarship and One-Year Internship

Machakos University has honored its global ICT champion, Salem Kim Lumumba, with a full scholarship for his final year of undergraduate studies and a one-year internship opportunity at the University in recognition of his outstanding achievement at the prestigious 10th Huawei ICT Competition (2025-2026 Edition).

Salem, a Third-Year Bachelor of Science in Cloud Computing student, etched his name into history after emerging as the Overall Global Winner, a remarkable feat that marks a first for both Machakos University and Kenya. His inspiring journey saw him secure First Position at the National Level, triumph at the Regional Stage, and ultimately rise to become the World Champion among thousands of competitors from across the globe.

The award reflects the University’s commitment to recognizing excellence, innovation, and dedication among its students. Through the scholarship and internship, Salem will continue to pursue his academic and professional aspirations while inspiring future generations of innovators.

Speaking after his victory, Salem attributed his success to months of intensive preparation, the support of the Luban Workshop at Machakos University, the mentorship of the Huawei ICT Academy Instructor, Mr. Franklin Mutisya, and the unwavering encouragement from the School of Engineering and Technology community.
