Machakos University Brings Smiles to Needy Pupils Through Uniform Donation Initiative

Machakos University, today, 12th June 2026, demonstrated its unwavering commitment to community service and educational empowerment by donating school uniforms to selected learners in need of support at Muthini Primary School.

The uniform donation initiative was organized by the Division of Research, Innovation and Linkages, led by Prof. David Mulwa, as part of Machakos University’s community outreach programme. The event was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Joyce Agalo and attended by members of the University Management Board and other staff. Speaking during the event, Prof. Agalo reaffirmed the University’s mission of transforming society through teaching, training, research, innovation, and community service. She encouraged the pupils to work hard in their studies and invited the school to participate in the University’s Innovation Week activities, pledging support through collaboration with the University’s ICT team to nurture young innovators.

DVC (APF), CPA, Prof. Florence Memba, urged the learners to be responsible citizens and future changemakers, while Registrar Administration and Planning, Dr. Humphrey Omondi, commended the teachers for their dedication in shaping the next generation. Prof. David Mulwa lauded the University’s leadership for championing impactful education support initiatives.

A proud alumnus of Muthini Primary School, Prof. Richard Kimiti, Dean, Postgraduate School at Machakos University, inspired the learners to dream big and excel academically, noting that many former pupils of the school have gone on to achieve remarkable success. The University team received a warm welcome from the school community led by the Headteacher Madam Rael Serem, Deputy Headteacher Madam Regina Mutuku, parents, and Board of Management Chairperson Mr. Michael Mweu, who expressed heartfelt gratitude for the generous gesture.

The event was marked by joyful interactions between the University leadership and pupils, whose memorable greeting, “Good morning Sir/Madam, Integrity is my commitment,” impressed all in attendance. Through such initiatives, Machakos University continues to strengthen its partnership with the community while ensuring that no child is denied access to education due to lack of basic necessities.
