Machakos University Accredited to Offer CHRP and CBET Human Resource Programmes

Machakos University has achieved a significant milestone following a successful assessment and accreditation by the Human Resource Management Professionals Examinations Board (HRMPEB), further cementing its position as a leading institution in professional and industry-focused training. On 24th June 2026, a team from HRMPEB conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the University’s capacity and preparedness to offer professional Human Resource Management programmes. Following the assessment, Machakos University was awarded two Certificates of Accreditation, authorizing it to serve as an official training centre for the Certified Human Resource Professionals (CHRP) programme and the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) Diploma and Craft Certificate in Human Resource Management.

The accreditation certificates were presented by Mr. Masinde Luke on behalf of the HRMPEB Chief Executive Officer, CHRP Margaret Nguu, MIHRM, and received by Prof. Mugendi M’Riitha on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joyce Agalo. This recognition affirms Machakos University’s readiness, institutional capacity, and unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality professional education that aligns with industry standards and the evolving needs of the Human Resource profession.

A major highlight of the engagement was the introduction of a unique Dual Certification pathway for students pursuing the Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resource Management) programme. Through this innovative arrangement, students will be able to pursue both their degree and the highly sought-after CHRP professional qualification simultaneously, giving them a competitive edge and enhancing their employability in the dynamic job market. During the assessment, the University showcased its state-of-the-art learning facilities, extensive digital library resources, and robust Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODEL) platform, all of which support accessible, flexible, and quality learning experiences.

The HRMPEB assessment team expressed strong confidence in the University’s ability to deliver the accredited programmes, commending its academic infrastructure, institutional preparedness, and dedication to excellence in professional training. Notably, Machakos University is currently the only institution in Machakos County and the surrounding region accredited to offer this professional pathway. This achievement positions the University at the forefront of nurturing competent, ethical, innovative, and industry-ready Human Resource professionals who will contribute meaningfully to organizational and national development.
