The DigiTREE Project continues to advance digital literacy, media competence, and virtual exchange through international collaboration, reinforcing Machakos University’s leadership in digital education. The University recently hosted a certificate award ceremony for 30 students who successfully completed Phases III and IV, with the final phase scheduled for September 2026.
As an active consortium partner, Machakos University plays a pivotal role in implementing the project locally, hosting trainings and workshops, mentoring students, facilitating virtual exchange, and contributing to research and curriculum development in digital skills.
The initiative is delivered through a consortium of European and African institutions led by Riga Technical University, in partnership with Cyprus University of Technology, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, University of Lusaka, and University of Botswana, promoting research excellence, capacity building, and student engagement across borders.
Certificates were awarded by the Project Coordinator, Prof. Stanley Makindi, alongside facilitators Prof. David Mulwa, Prof. Richard Kimiti, Prof. Kibet Peter Koech, and Dr. John Musau, with Project Administrator Judy Mwania commending the students for their dedication and achievement.
Funded by the European Commission, the DigiTREE Project continues to enhance digital skills, strengthen cross-cultural collaboration, and deepen global partnerships, firmly positioning Machakos University as a key contributor to digital transformation in higher education.
