Machakos University Honored at East Africa Superwoman Awards

Machakos University proudly emerged as the Best-Performing Higher Learning Institution in Kenya (2026) at the prestigious East Africa Superwoman Awards held on 16th May 2026 at the Argyle Grand Hotel in Nairobi. In addition, the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joyce J. Agalo, was recognized as the Most Visionary Higher Learning Institution CEO in Kenya, affirming her exemplary leadership and commitment to institutional excellence.

The high-end gala event, themed “Breaking the Glass Ceiling and Leading Ahead,” was attended by the Machakos University Council led by the Chairman of Council, Dr. Peter Maangi Mitiambo, who received the University award on behalf of the institution. Also in attendance were members of the University Management, Deans of Schools, family members, and representatives of staff on behalf of the wider University fraternity.

The gala brought together distinguished leaders and institutions across the region. The Chief Guest, The Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Service and Human Capital, Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya, delivered an inspiring keynote address on women empowerment, emphasizing the importance of creating inclusive opportunities, nurturing talent, and fostering leadership that uplifts communities and drives sustainable development.
