
Dick Wekesa Waswa is a seasoned Management Consultant, Business Leader, and Marketing Strategist with over 18 years of experience driving growth, transformation, and social impact across East Africa. His career spans senior thought leadership and C-Suite roles in the pharmaceutical, FMCG, ICT, social enterprise, and NGO sectors, where he has successfully built businesses, developed market-leading brands, and delivered sustainable development solutions within diverse groups of teams.
He has held executive and strategic leadership positions with renowned organizations including Eli Lilly Sussie SA, Sameer Africa Limited (Firestone), Kenya Network Information Centre (KeNIC), GS1 Kenya CEO, and World Bicycle Relief (Buffalo Bicycle Kenya), where he served as Country Director. In these roles, he led business strategy, marketing, innovation, partnerships, fundraising, championed social impact and organizational growth, consistently delivering strong commercial and social impact results. As a Management Consultant, Waswa spearheaded the game changing development of the Kenya Tea and Coffee Branding and Packaging Strategy for the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA), helping transform the competitiveness, packaging standards, and global market positioning of Kenyan tea and coffee brands as an experience and tell a true Kenyan story.
He has also supported stakeholders across East Africa in developing market-entry strategies, digital marketing approaches, and customer-centric growth models for millennials through touch points and thought leadership. Beyond the private sector, Waswa has played an important governance role in Education serving in both schools and University providing strategic oversight, partnerships and institutional development. He is renowned for empowering girls using bicycles to overcome distance challenge to access education in Kenyan day secondary schools in Western, Rift valley and Nyanza regions of Kenya.
Currently, he advises NGOs, social enterprises, and community development initiatives across Kenya, Uganda, and South Sudan on Program Conceptualization, fundraising, donor matching and program implementation. He is involved in entrepreneurial activity tapping into his business acumen and commercial experience in FMCG industry. Additionally, he is also passionate about education, research commercialization, entrepreneurship, and creating sustainable linkages between academia, industry, and community impact.
Waswa holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance and Marketing from United States International University–Africa (USIU-A) and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nairobi in Biochemistry. He is also a member of the Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK).
