Greening Tomorrow: Machakos University Students Lead Community Climate Action

Machakos University students have once again demonstrated their commitment to environmental stewardship through a successful community tree planting initiative in Kiimwa Kimwe, Machakos.
The activity, organized by the Machakos University Environmental Club and the Go Green Club in collaboration with the Kathale Community, the Area Chief Mr. Muli Mutua, and the Kenya Inter-University Environmental Students Association (KIUESA), brought together students and residents in a shared mission to restore ecosystems and strengthen climate resilience.

Speaking during the event, KIUESA Greater Eastern Region Representative and Machakos University student, Ferdinand Opiyo Ojwang, emphasized the power of youth leadership, strategic partnerships, and active community engagement in driving sustainable environmental solutions.
The Area Chief, Mr. Muli Mutua, lauded the initiative, noting its significant role in promoting environmental conservation, enhancing awareness, and fostering community ownership of natural resources.
Through the Environmental Club, Machakos University continues to lead impactful, community-driven climate action, reaffirming its commitment to building a greener, more sustainable future.
