Machakos University Partners with M-Pesa Foundation to Build Modern Smart TVET Facility

Machakos University has partnered with the M-Pesa Foundation, Pleng Limited, and Sepal Builders Co. Ltd. in the construction of a modern Smart TVET building aimed at enhancing quality technical and vocational education and training.


On May 28, 2026, the University hosted a consultative meeting with the project stakeholders to discuss the implementation phase of the landmark project. The proposed three-storey facility will feature modern lecture halls, administrative offices, and staff spaces designed to support innovation, skills development, and academic excellence.

The University Management, led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joyce Agalo, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to ensuring the successful and timely completion of the project. Also present were CPA, Prof. Florence Memba, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Planning and Finance), Prof. David Mulwa (Ag. Registrar, Research, Innovation and Linkages), Mr. Nicholus Mwunda, Director, TVET, Dr. Clement Mbatha, Clerk of Works, Ms. Mumbi Mwihurih, Head, Legal Affairs, CPA Francis Wambua, Chief Finance Officer, Ms. Alice Njeri, Head, Supply Chain Management among others.
Representatives from the M-Pesa Foundation, Pleng Limited, and Sepal Builders Co. Ltd. held discussions focusing on project coordination, site handover procedures, and adherence to quality and safety standards.


The Smart TVET building is expected to significantly strengthen Machakos University’s training infrastructure and position the institution as a leading hub for technical and vocational education.
