Machakos University Hosts ABC Kyamithenge Senior School for Career Guidance Programme

Machakos University today welcomed students from ABC Kyamithenge Senior School for a career guidance programme aimed at equipping learners with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to make informed academic and career decisions.

The session was led by the Chief Speaker, Prof. Henry Embeywa, who challenged the students to adopt positive habits that would contribute to both their academic success and personal growth. He encouraged them to navigate their academic journey by embracing discipline, avoiding unnecessary conflicts, seeking guidance from teachers and mentors, steadily improving their performance in all subjects, maintaining a balanced diet, and getting adequate sleep.

Prof. Embeywa also highlighted the importance of prioritising mental well-being by adopting healthy stress management techniques. He advised the students to remain adaptable to different situations, embrace hydrotherapy, and occasionally change their environment as practical ways of reducing stress and enhancing overall wellness.

During the programme, Ms. Ruth Munene from the Career Services Office took the students through the wide range of academic programmes offered at Machakos University, from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to undergraduate degree programmes. She guided the learners on how to identify suitable career pathways by aligning their interests, abilities, and strengths in different subjects with the available academic programmes.

The interactive session provided the students with valuable insights into career planning, university education, and the importance of making informed choices that align with their future aspirations.
