Machakos University Students Choir Triumphs at National Music Festivals

Machakos University Students Choir delivered an outstanding performance at the National Music Festivals held at Kibabii University, emerging among the top performers despite having only a few days to prepare for the competition. The choir showcased exceptional talent, dedication and resilience while competing against choirs from leading institutions across the country. Their impressive performances earned the University notable positions in several categories.

Key Achievements;

• 1st Place – Kamba Cultural Dance
• 1st Place – Kamba Folk Song
• 4th Place – Own Composition
• 83% and above – Scores attained in all other presented pieces

The remarkable results are a testament to the commitment and hard work of the students and their dedication to promoting and preserving Kenya’s rich cultural heritage through music and performance.

Machakos University extends its appreciation to Madam Joyce Nyongesa for her generous hospitality, provision of meals and facilitation of conducive practice spaces during the choir’s preparation and participation in the festivals. The medals and trophies earned by the choir were formally received on behalf of the University by the Dean of Students, Dr. James Karao, in recognition of the team’s outstanding achievement.
