Machakos University Empowers Youth Through Digital Skills as Government Team Visits Jitume Digital Lab

Machakos University continues to champion digital inclusion and youth empowerment through its Jitume Digital Lab, providing young people with access to digital skills, technology and opportunities that support meaningful participation in Kenya’s growing digital economy.

On 23rd September 2026, the University hosted a team from the Government of Kenya, including representatives from Konza Technopolis and other Government agencies, who visited the Jitume Digital Lab to collect testimonials and document the experiences and impact of the programme on its beneficiaries. The engagement formed part of a broader Government initiative, through the Office of the Deputy President, to monitor and evaluate the impact of the Government-supported Jitume Programme across the country. The team was led by Mr. Andrew Muoki, Communication Officer, Government of Kenya Communications.

Creating Opportunities Through Digital Access

The Jitume Programme is providing young Kenyans with access to digital resources, training and opportunities that can help them build relevant skills, explore employment opportunities and participate in the digital economy.
