Machakos University Strengthens Institutional Excellence Through ISO Champions Training

Machakos University has reaffirmed its commitment to quality, compliance, and institutional excellence through a two-day ISO Quality Management System (QMS) Champions Training held from 29th to 30th June 2026 at Karlos Hotel, Machakos. The training brought together ISO Champions from all University departments and sections to strengthen the implementation and sustainability of the University’s Quality Management System.

The programme was officially opened by Prof. Alex Kamwaria on behalf of the Head of Performance Contracting and Quality Management Systems (PC & QMS). In his remarks, he underscored the pivotal role of ISO Champions in promoting quality assurance, enhancing service delivery, and driving continuous improvement across the University.

The training focused on ISO 9001:2015 requirements, compliance standards, and the responsibilities of QMS Champions in supporting effective quality management within their respective departments. Participants gained practical knowledge and skills on implementing ISO requirements, maintaining compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement to enhance institutional performance.

The sessions were facilitated by an accredited Official from the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), who guided participants through internationally recognized quality management principles and best practices. Her interactive presentations equipped participants with practical tools to champion quality initiatives and support the University’s pursuit of operational excellence.

The successful training marks another milestone in Machakos University’s continuous journey towards institutional excellence. By investing in the capacity of its ISO QMS Champions, the University is strengthening its quality culture, improving operational efficiency, and reinforcing its commitment to delivering quality teaching, research, innovation, and community service through effective quality management systems.
